I've got a MiniDV cam - a Canon ZR60 I picked up back home this summer. I shot some simple stuff around Seattle and Tacoma. The only project I'm working on now is a compare/contrast video between common things in the US and Korea - transportation, stores, etc. I also took a batch of pics and video of the Korean neighborhood in Tacoma to show a batch of Korean signs in the US.

I've kind of stalled on it now. I need to pick up a bigger external (Firewire) drive to get the video off the tapes I've shot. The drive in my laptop's not nearly big enough.

I've found iMovie to be okay for basic editing, but I'll want something with a little more juice once I get going. Avid just released FreeDV (Mac OSX and Windows XP flavors), but I can't connect to their site (avid.com) for some reason. Sad

Its just a little SONY camera..

Spike Lee shot BAMBOOZLED with 12 of those "little cameras. Wes Craven made his two horror classics (only two and his only good ones) LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT and THE HILLS HAVE EYES on a little camera for his time: 16mm.

Small doesnt mean bad, amigo.

Dont sell yourself short, but its good to start small. Good luck!

Another Film School vet chiming in,

Yes... hunt down the videos by that Jiyan guy... they're the best of the genre...

who's Jiyan?

A former teacher from the states. Nice, acerbic sense of humor.

Look for "drift reality" and "korea" on google. You'll find his stuff.

Cheers,

Joe
