We don't hate Europe.....we hate France....

Why?? Well, if France had anything left but Ego it would have sided with us in the runup to the war, bringing "democratic" Russia and its apparent newfound twin, Germany, along with it, and therefore forcing Saddam and his sons to take option A- permanent vacation in Tunisia.

But by their idiotic megalomaniac egotistic obstructions...they forced the US to depose Saddam. (hopefully, and most likely, this will be the last time France will ever play such a critical role in world affairs......having departed as the pouting objecting weak-kneed basketcase that it has become)

and a note on VDH.....

Europe, it turns out, worships class and privilege in the flesh while it damns them in the abstract

Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!

and for those in Asia...

And would the vaunted EU joint force or the French navy mobilize if China invaded Taiwan or if North Korea shelled Seoul????

Wink I'm sorry, that was funny enough to get a chuckle from me. But not friendly, definitely not very friendly. Still... I was in Paris in January, and yes, Eurabia seems to be on its way in

Old Europe didn't help the US contain Saddam nor have they been willing to do anything other than business than usual in the mid east.

They were perfectly willing to leave the US in a difficult situation over there.

They haven't helped the US on anything since they end of the cold war. They were this way before the US elected the "idiot in chief " Old Europe was doing the same stuff when Clinton was in office.

You're a goddamn broken record, you know that? SADDAM DIDN'T NEED TO BE CONTAINED! Virtually every legislative body in the world (including the U.S.!) has now come to that conclusion! The U.S. created their own difficult situation under false pretenses, so if they're left alone in trying to clean things up I won't shed a single tear.

I don't think people on the left are against America getting ahead. They just want the US to do so by virtue and not through under-handed dealings.

In contrast, I think there are people on the right hoping that Europe's whole social system fails.

Is Europe some dictator-ridden land of oppression? Or is it another place of many "democratic" states where freedom rings, but not to the tune of American conservatives?

What I've noticed is not that they are critical of European governments as such, but European socialism. There is a clear tendency among many right wingers, on and off this board, to froth at the mouth whenever they think about any form of socialism. It is very similar to the reaction you might get if you suggested they marry their sister and shout four letter words in the middle of the preacher's sermon. When asked about their opinions, you tend to get quotes from Rush Limbaugh and crowd rather than a discussion. It's all quite odd.

My private theory is that there are mind-control beams coming out of right wing talk shows. It's the only thing that accounts for the weirdness.

Wow, Ya-Ta. Right wing conservatives against socialism. What a fucking surprise!

As to mind-control: That tends to be the objective of political correctness. And left wingers are wierder.

I think by definition a 'right winger' is usually much more nationalistic and slighly xenophobic (unless of course its financial/economic to the right par of things politically).

It isn't the opposition to socialism that is weird. It's the frothing at the mouth at the very mention of the word that is odd. It's lumping Swedish democratic socialists and Stalinists together as if there were no difference that is strange.

I agree with Polly for the most part...few so-called "right-wingers" hate Europe...it's just that Europe doesn't stand for much except appeasement..no frontier can do spirit, empty churches (worship the state rather than God), too much regulation (my God, do they really need an 800 page plus constitution???)

I think this is a little funny. First, you give us reason to believe that you believe in God and view Europe as immoral:

Quote:
...it's just that Europe doesn't stand for much except appeasement..no frontier can do spirit, empty churches (worship the state rather than God)

And in the very next line, you use the Lord's name in vain:

Quote:
(my God, do they really need an 800 page plus constitution???)

Bible (King James):
Quote:
DEUT 5:11 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Way to be a Christian, buddy!
