Police detain organizers of spouse swapping parties!!
I saw an article in the Korea Herald, but it didn't make the website. Check it out at the Chosun Ilbo
(It's in English) |

I used the wife-swapping story for my freetalking class tonight. Interesting responses, and consensus to prosecute the matchmaker for pimping... just their opinions. It was a lot of fun- that class always is a laugh...not like working at all.

see I think it's conservative on account of the fact that people got arrested. As long its between two consenting indviduals I don't give a damn what people are up to in the bedroom or whether they've paid for the service or not. |

Adultery is illegal in Korea. "Swapping" falls under adultery. |

Actually, spouse-swapping in North America is largely a hobby of middle-class suburban types who are otherwise socially and politically conservative. As well(and here I'm cribbing my analysis from a sociology textbook I studied at university), it tends to be a somewhat male-driven affair, as illustrated by the subculture's enthusiatic embrace of "two girls and a guy" alongside its concurrent shunning of "two guys and a girl". For these reasons, its more accurately described as "wife-swapping".
I think there IS evidence that Korean society is becoming more liberal, I'm just not sure if the advent of a swinging subculture can be considered part of it. |

there are so many cases like this everyday. Adultery is illegal huh! yeah they say that but YEAH RIGHT!!! like 80% of the government politicians dont go out whoring! they say its our culture!? but they keep it illegal!
WHAT THE!!!!
I get confused everyday hahahaha I see korean man in the 50's who are running the country as my elementary school students! they are just the same !!! |

I believe the only people arrested were the agency that arranged it and the owner of the noraebang. The police couldn't find any law that would allow them to arrest the participants.
Shelf the conservative Korea arguments, they just aren't relevant anymore. |

I believe that under Korean law, a complainant is necessary to prosecute adultery. If the aggrieved spouse colluded in the adultery, then no case. |

I'm curious what you really know about swinging ( wife-swapping being only a small subset of this rather large cultur in america ). Usually it's the male partner that initiates it, but usually it's the female partner that wants to go back. Women are far more in demand at the events and usually have a damn good time once they let their inhibitions go. |

exactly.....thus they wouldn't be able to prosecute those involved. It was also reported on the korean news that most of those involved were highly educated coming out of some of the better universities in Seoul..... |

When I read it I just thought , "My God, how very Korean, using a matchmaker, and going to a noraebang as foreplay!" |
