Just wondering whether my friends can come over to Korea. Both are British, one with a 2 year computer diplma and the other with a 3 year physio degree. Neither have tefl or tesol or any formal ESL teaching experience.
Advice appreciated. |

hi
you might want to check out the FAQs.
As for formal requirements you need a university degree and a passport from one of the following countries: England, Ireland, New zealand, Australia, South Africa, Canada, United States.

does the computer diploma say BA, BSc or BEd or start with B and end with some other kid of ending? if it doesn't, then no, they can't work out here legally. the physio degree is fine. i work with someone who has a fashion design degree. you don't need any formal teaching qualifacations like the ones you mentioned. |

C'mon over!
Korean hogwans and recruiters don't give a crap about whether you have a 4 year degree or not...
I know plenty of teachers without 4 year degrees...some even teach at the university level... |

It's not the hagwon you need worry about, it's immigration. The 3 year degree will be cool, but as ratslash said if the two year thing is not a uni bachelor's (I'm guessing it's not) then it won't fly. |

Better check with Immigration and see if a 3 year degree is ok, you never know, they may just say no.

A three year degree is fine! British (Honours) degrees take 3 years to complete instead of 4, as they do in some other countries (unless in education (a BEd) then they take 4) |

A BSc, BA, BComm and a whole host of B*'s in Australia are 3 year degrees.
My BSc was a 3 year degree (even though I took 4.. :)
