I just spotted this today. Up near Bloor and Yonge for those familiar with Toronto. I didn't try it. I've tried it in Korea. It was way way hot to me. Eat a bit of chicken. Drink a glass of water. I thought it would be great if they could hyper down the spices and not make it into a macho thing. I can just sense Koreans are thinking "ohhhhh Japanese and Americans would never be able to eat this!" with every bite.
Maybe they serve up a buldak with training wheels for the whitey. Man, I wish my Russian friend Igor didn't move to NYC. I could always count on him as being a fearless dinner companion. |

But yeah, need a bit of water. |

I've been there. It's all right, not great. Buldak has actually been in Toronto for a while, this place is not the first.
There are some great Korean restaurants in this area. I've always meant to write some reviews, but never got around to it. Just across the street, a few doors down, is a drinking place with great food that is straight out of Korea. It really freaks you out.
I don't expect these guys to last long, but let's see. |

I don't know what part of Toronto you're in but I noticed today there's a small K-town developing at Dundas and Kipling. Just picked up a 1.5l of aloe juice. $3.99. Hrm. I'd pay about $2.50 for it in Korea.
Yonge south of Bloor is dotted with some random K restaurants. There's the old k-town at Christie (haven't actually been there since I got back). And then Yonge/Finch there's the newer K-town. Going to meet an Ex gf up there next week. I seem to recall Dundas west of Dixie there was a developing k-town. Not 100% sure. Noticed it 8 years ago before I jetted off to Seattle.
How long you been back in TO? |

mindmetoo, I've been in Canada for years. I live near Yonge and Bloor and work near the CN Tower so I rarely leave the downtown area unless there is a really good reason.
Some great places out in the Christie St. Koreatown, my current favourite is Jin Mi Rak, just near the subway station. "Crazy Submarine" on Isabella, near Yonge and Bloor is a real blast from the old country and wildly popular with the kids.
Been out to Yonge/Finch, but it's a bit far for me, and I'm not even sure where Dundas and Kipling is.
$3.99 is nothing. Have you tried to buy soju here?
I may not be in Toronto much longer, but if you're looking to meet up for a drink send me a PM and let's do it. I'm not crazy, I swear.
And even if I am, who cares? |

Sounds good. I only play crazy on the net
Koreans who visit Toronto must dump bricks when they try to order soju. |
