So, after nearly 9 years off, I've been hitting it (relatively) hard for the past few months and enjoying. So much so, I thought i might try my hand at making a video. I'm 40 lbs off of the top of my game, but that's cool, I'm having fun. Not sure how this will go over on this forum, but here's my take on Back Day
What do ya figure? |

I gave it a quick look. It's making me feel lazy. I haven't been to the gym in about 4 months because I was working on a research paper. (And that's at 40 pounds from your heaviest? Damn, you were huge. I'm at about minus 30-35lbs, but I'm out of shape).
A few exercises I've never tried, I'll give them a shot when I'm done with grading and I can finally get myself in the right frame of mind to hit the gym again.
Ever tried close grip front pull-downs for your back (not even sure if that's the right name)? I do these sometimes at the end of my back workout. Think a triceps pull-down, but your waist is bent at a greater angle forward and you rotate at the shoulders when you pull-down, not at the elbows (keep your elbows slightly bent to reduce stress on them). Light-weight, high rep exercise. I'll do this one to exhaustion, then start up again. I'll do anywhere between 100-200 reps. |

| At 100-200reps, isn't that basically doing cardio? |

Only for that exercise, and that's after I've blasted my back with heavy weights. I'll do 5 sets of 20-30, not a 100-200 rep set.
Give it a try. It burns. |

Yeah, man. Get yourself back in the groove. You know it's a great feeling.

Sort of like a lying dumbbell pull over... but you're standing, and bringing the cable to your thighs?
Yeah, I do this all the time.. maybe every second back workout. A great finishing exercise, IMO. Never tried that high of rep range, but yeah, I can imagine it working well. |

That's exactly it. Like you say, it's a great finishing exercise. I find that I get more out of doing high-rep/low-weight with this one since my body's already pretty beat up by the time I do it, so I find it hard to maintain good form with a heavier weight/low rep and get the same burning sensation. |

Capt is older than I thought but also much fitter. I don't know you describe yourself as lanky. You look very well-proportioned.

Yeah, just turned 39 - been in Korea since I was 28.
As for the rest... I'm confused by your wording... am I lanky, or badly proportioned?
Perhaps both? lol
I've always considered my proportions (semi) close to that of Bill Pearl. |
