Has anyone in a rural area ever ordered from G-Market? How does it work, in terms of delivery? I live an hour+ away from the nearest E-Mart, etc, and it would make my life so much easier to order from GMkt, if shipping/delivery is easy.

Yes, you can do that. Gmarket is one Korean site that accepts ARC numbers for membership since the site also will ship outside of Korea making it an international business like Amazon. I've been using Gmarket and live in rural Gangwondo where it takes 2 hours and 30,000 won to get to the nearest Emart. The only reason why I like Emart is they sell European beer and pepperoni logs; 2 things you can't get on Gmarket. I had my co-teacher help me get started. I have it delivered to my main school since someone needs to receive it and they don't normally deliver after 4PM.
I had my co-teacher put into my Gmarket account the school address in Hangul since most delivery guys do not know any English nor ABC's. Sometimes they call my cell phone to get directions to the school so I have someone at my school talk since the delivery guys don't know any English.
You can get almost anything on Gmarket that is sold at Costco, except beer or any alcohol, but you have more selection than you would at any Emart. The search feature of the site is poor, but it half way works enough to get benefit from using the site, but leaving you wondering what all is really available. It's a great way to shop Costco without membership, buying large quantity, and traveling to a store. If you order any meat, make sure to time it where you get it the day it's delivered as they don't put ice in the cooler. The fresh food is delivered by carriers that operate all night to rush time sensitive packages around the country so your meat might start in Seoul tonight and be at your school tomorrow at lunch time. Don't let it sit over the weekend or an extra day while you're away, because they'll try to deliver on weekends with no one to receive it. I submit orders between Sunday night and Tuesday night to receive it by Friday which it usually comes by Tuesday or Wednesday. |

Have you ever ordered something like small furniture, or furniture at all? I would *love* to get a desk. |

No, I haven't got furniture on Gmarket, but I would anticipate it to be disassembled in a box where you need to put it together as I understand Gmarket to use general truck driver delivery service not employed by a furniture store who only deliver. I had a small furniture store deliver furniture and the delivery guys put it together and set it up, but that's different since they specialize in furniture delivery and set up.
Tools are easy to get if you need them. |

i'm a total noob at gmarket and i can't figure out how to deposit money, or have them take it out of my bank account. i think i'm meant to register my bank account first. so i tried to fill out a withdrawal application but i dont know where to find my banks swift or aba number. however, i dont have checks at my bank here in korea. the lady at the bank was just very confused when i tried to talk to her. i dont really know what i'm trying to ask so thats not too surprising. am i on the right track here? where can i find my aba number if i dont have checks? is there a much easier way to pay through gmarket that i'm missing. they assigned me an account to use through keb, but i'm still not sure what that means. sucks that my coteacher is MIA at the moment... |

When u buy choose method of payment by bank deposit. Then deposit the money in their acct . They will provide u w/ the #. Easiest to use internet banking. Samsung card is the easiest way to go. Samsung card and ur internet banking cert for ID/confirmation is easy as pie on gmarket. |

I moved into a new apartment in August and almost every single piece of furniture in here I ordered from G-Market. The quality varies depending on the seller but I've been happy with everything. I live in a small villa with no elevator and that has been the only problem point. The large bookcase, the guy came alone so needed a hand to get it up the stairs. My sofa was too big for the stairwell so I had to rent one of those moving ladder truck-things for 50,000 for the hour to get it up and through my window.
Don't worry about assembling stuff. Everything I've had delivered, the delivery guy has assembled it before leaving. |

My one experience ordering large furntiure from G-market was a queen size bed and frame.
I didn't have the apartment arranged so that it could be easily setup so I just wanted to do it myself later. The delivery guy was dumbfounded that I would attempt to assemble it myself (all 8 screws - the humanity...) and even after we had an understanding that i COULD accomplish such an onerous task --- he still insisted he stay and open every box, verify the parts, and tell me the placement of each part for assembly.
Actually, kind of good because I got to see that each part was accounted for and in good condition and he got to leave earlier doing less work than he expected. Basically, he covered his ass with his boss and I assembled the new bed at my leisure so it was win-win for both of us. |

What type of things need to be signed for on delivery? Will they just leave most things at the door?
Also, how long does it usually take to get delivered, two ot three days?
I've been trying to get set up on gmarket, but it's been a real pain in the ass. |

I ordered an MP3 player and a set of headphones on Sunday, transferred the money at a bank machine on Monday, the headphones arrived on Tuesday and the MP3 player on Wednesday. I live about 2 hours outside of Seoul. Shipping was free. |

i have internet banking. i wish the lady i called at the bank had been more helpful instead of her brain slowly melting away after i asked her if i could deposit money into a gmarket account. maybe that was confusing to her. thanks for the help though! i'll make a trip to the atm. |
