All of the "alternative" music I've read about in Seoul is all pretty punk sounding. Is there any kind of folk scene? It probably wouldn't hurt to reconnect with my loud music side, but is there anywhere to see either trad or indie/freak folk? I'm arriving in about a month...if anyone knows of good places to check out I'd love to hear about them.

trad or indie/freak folk? never heard those labels so you're probably not gonna find it here. this ain't austin.

there's an occasional "round robin" event that has quieter sounding music / acoustic guitars.

but yes, a lot of punk and metal in hongdae on saturday nights.
