Okay folks. Post some useful websites that you think will answer the majority of questions related to labour and working conditions. If I see a good response, I'll also sticky this in the job forum.

May I be so bold as to suggest my own....? It's scope is a little more broad than just labour laws in Korea, but there are links to such websites.

Sure, why not? - CM

National Tax Service, Republic of Korea -
http://www.nts.go.kr/menu/index.asp?sub=menu5&svc=5_6&sub_menu=menu1&svc_id=743

Some hagwon owners tend to charge you too high a tax rate and pocket the difference. To find out if you are paying too much go to the Korean taxservice's web site. Foreign teachers pay the same taxes as Koreans. NOTE: You may be eligible to pay other taxes as well, if you are unsure contact your embassy.

http://www.nts.go.kr/menu/index.asp?sub=menu5&svc=5_6&sub_menu=menu1&svc_id=743

It is all in Korean so here is a guide of what to do.

There are 3 boxes. The top box is how much money you make (in chung won), so 2.7 million is 2700 in the box. Same as 1.8 million=1800

The box below asks how many people are in the family.

Then click the box to the right of the bottom box and it tells you exactly how much tax you should pay.

Circus Monkey has hit the nail on the head; the problem I found with some of the sites were they didn't respond to questions, or when they did they didn't answer the question. And some are just baloney. I did get a lengthy answer from the
http://www.efl-law.com
site which cleared up my messy situation over the three emails we exchanged - answered same day to my surprise... the answer to Korean problems came straight away, but Japan and China questions took a couple of days (that is if you are thinking of going there and have up front questions.) The problem with these sites is that unless someone posts them here like Circus Monkey, they slip from mind or get lost in a mine field of bookmarks.

I've scanned these files with three different antivirus products, and all have come up negative.

Care to elaborate? There's only one exploit using .wmv files that I'm aware of (http://www.bitdefender.com/virusi/virusi_descrieri.php?virus_id=95), these files do not contain it.

>. Simply, my virus program picked off a TROJAN embedded in that travel documentary's video files. ALL OF THEM Twisted Evil

It's of course entirely unclear whether the site manager was aware of this state of affairs or not. My advice, however, if anyone has any current interest in viewing the files : proceed @ your peril Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

I'd suggest that that's a false positive, but I could be wrong. YMMV, as they say.

http://www.eslsource.com/eslsource/agent.cfm - Interactive database of agents.

http://www.eslsource.com/eslsource/School.cfm - Interactive database of schools.

http://www.eslsource.com/eslsource/university.cfm - Interactive database of universities.

http://www.eslsource.com/eslsource/country_view.cfm/con_id/7A - Lists all the articles and links about Korea on the site.
