sure, no problem. I hope your cold gets better. if we end up doing something next weekend, I'll comment here instead of making a new post. |
Maybe you should start a new post, since this one has degenerated so much... I'll check back too |

In my original post, I asked if women wanted to go out because men aren't allowed at most of the girl bars in Hongdae. There's no ulterior motive here. I've partied with respectful and awesome straight guys before, and I've never had a problem with them.
Anyway, how is the weekend for everyone? |

Just heard from someone looking to go out this Friday and make some new friends. I know we're planning for Saturday right now, but are there any people who can't make it then and are free on Friday? |

That's rather sexist then, men have just as much a right to exist and go to girls bars as women do to mens bars.

wes,
many stores i've seen also have special days during the week when they open only for the women-and-trans only crowd. it's not done with the intention of being exclusive, but with the intention of creating a safe space.
there are some men who will go to these bars to leer or be generally kind of predacious, and it can interfere with everyone elses' good time. regrettably, that sometimes means every fella's got to be excluded for awhile.
don't see it as sexist - understand that the community has been burned in the past and that it's your job as a Well-Meaning Feminist Dude to leave off and know that it's not personal. |

I think these bars should be better at identifying creeps and not just assume that "having a male present" and "safe for women" are mutually exclusive. |

My good deed for the day. There is a group of girls who meet up in Seoul on the third Saturday of the month (and some other times too) to hit the bars or whatever. It's not a public list, but you can get on it by going to one of the meetings and introducing yourself to one of the coordinators.
Here is the info for the meeting, this Saturday (Pm me if you're coming and I'll send you an email/# or something of how to get in contact with these people):
Meet at Hong Dae Station, exit 5 in front of KFC at 7:00!!! We'll find a nice place to sit down and eat, then around 9 we'll hit the bowling alley and after that PINK!!!!! (the girl bars in Hongdae)
If y'all are good there might even be a noraebang thrown into the evening somewhere!
I need a rough headcount for bowling so I can reserve lanes so please let me know ASAP if you are down with throwin' a few gutter balls with yours truly! |

^^Is this the Seoul Sisters group? I went looking for their website a while ago, but it seems to be down. I always meant to contact them when I first arrived in Seoul.
I don't have enough posts to initiate pms. Would someone mind filling me in re: Saturday meet-up with a pm? |

Seoul Sisters has changed name and website. You need to go to a meeting to get the info. Check my previous post for the meet-up details. |
