Edit in some directions: From Yangjae Stn. you can take bus Seocho08 directly to Costco. I try a different route every time I go, and haven't really found a good one yet. A cab from Itaewon to Yangjae Costco is only around 12k, which might be the easiest and best option.

SHHHH! Stop telling people about the pumpkin pies at Costco.

But if lots of people buy them maybe they'll keep them in stock longer... okay, probably not. I doubt I would have noticed them today without the heads-up so I'm grateful anyway. Smile

They also currently have Junior Mints and a Haribo variety pack. I could not resist either of these. They have Marula Fruit Cream liquor in the alcohol section, and I never though I'd see it here and kind of wanted it, but it was 50k for 750ml. Not today.

A lady was giving out free samples of kelp and mushroom soup and it was so good I bought a huge tub of the base. Ha. The people diving in for multiple samples are bringing them to their friends in different aisles to avoid (more) congestion. I like to think that's what they're doing anyway.

SO Costco is a place to buy in bulk or to get foreign goods? Are prices decent?

Yes you can get things in bulk, including foreign things.

Yes prices are decent, you can buy the cheapest 20-pound jar of peanut butter or 800-pack of tortillas in Korea.

The Yangpyung Costco is really easy to find if you know the landmarks.

When you exit Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station, you can use either exit 2 or 3. When you exit, turn around and walk toward the KB Bank (it's by exit 3.) On the left side of the bank is the street that goes to Costco (5-10 min walk.) You'll see a huge driving range net on the left side of the street. Walk past that and Costco will be on the right.

Do it once and you'll have it, just look for KB Bank.

As for other Costco's, I've found using the Daum site maps make life much easier. If you know the general area of one, you can just find the nearest subway station and scan the area. The Costco will marked with a big red 'C'. Wink Brilliant. It also has logos of other places like post offices, stores, banks, etc. Really useful.

Wow! I never got the PB thing. After eating it for 11 years in school, I'm quite sick of it.

SANGBONG COSTCO

Line 7 - Go out exit 5. There is another Exit (I think it's 2) but they often have construction, so I found it easier to go out 5. Outback Steakhouse should be across the street to your left. Go the opposite direction away from OS. Walk about 5-10 minutes, and you will see a movie theater. Costco is just ahead near Sangbong bus terminal on your right.

You can also get there from Mangu station (Jungang line from Yongsan station). Go out the main entrance where buses and taxis are parked. There is a 1,000 won store in the station on that side. You will have to cross one street and go right. You will be heading the opposite direction as the directions for Line 7. Walk about 5-10 minutes and you should see Costco on the left near Sangbong bus terminal. Don't follow the signs to Sangbong bus terminal. They will lead you behind Costco. Stay on the main road where local buses pick up people in the middle of the street. You'll see a big Costco sign.

Thanks for those directions. That's the closest one to me and I want to go and see what's available.

The new Costco in the Seoul area is now set to open on December 15th, 2012. It will be on the 5th floor of GWANGMYEONG STATION on the 7 line, but actually in Gyeonggi-do.

It's not at Gwangmyeongsagori on Line 7. It is near Gwangmyeong KTX station, which is on an offshoot of Line 1, with maybe 3-4 trains per hour heading there.

YANGPYEONG (YEONGDEUNGPO-GU) COSTCO

From HongDae, jump in a cab going toward Hapjeong Station. Keep going straight over the bridge and then just keep going straight. COSCTO will be on your left eventually.

Or take bus 7612. It'll let you off virtually right in front of the COSTCO.
