From the Royal Bank website:

To reduce the chance of having problems at foreign ABMs, its strongly suggested that your Personal Identification Number (PIN) attached to your Royal Bank Client Card be a four-digit number, as many financial institutions will only accept a 4-digit code.

Has anyone had a problem accessing their "home" bank account from Korea with a PIN that wasn't four digits?

I guess that's a no.

Good, one less errand to run before leaving.

It is possible no one understands. I'm not sure that banks here will accept more than four digits as I have seen only 4 place values. Maybe no one responded because no one has more than four digits.

I haven't had trouble with the pin number, but I have had trouble finding bank machines that will accept my Royal bank Card. I have had to find machines that say "global service".
Korea Exchange bank in Seomyeon, Busan has some. I don't know of any others, the daft bugger that I am.
Cheers

I never tried using my bank card in Korea because I have an irrational fear that the Korean ATM will eat it.

I know what you mean about your card being eaten. I had my local card eaten, and thank goodness it was at my actual bank's bank machine in the front lobby. I got it back the next day.

I tend to favor the international card machines that have a "slide thru" card system as opposed to the ones that take your card for a time. Not much choice out there though.

As for 4-digit machines, I've never seen them.

Never thought about that problem specifically, since I've never had mine eaten, but I will be doubly sure about the slide one from now on.
