I moved into a new apartment a few weeks ago and I've noticed a few red ant-like insects running around the place. They look exactly like ants but they're smaller than any ants I've seen before. They seem to be after my food, not that I leave it lying around.

I haven't had any cockroaches, or other pests, and I stick my food waste in the freezer before I put it out. I've cleaned the place top to bottom twice since I moved in but I can't seem to get rid of the little sods.

Anyone else had these things in their place? How did you manage to get rid of them?

They are ants...on the plus side...so I have been told, roaches avoid them like the plague - actually believe it is true, never had any roaches in until I exterminated the ants....
You can buy ant traps at local supers and pharmacies and also sprays...

My favorite stuff though is called MATERKILL which you paint on around your door frames and windows as well as trim around the ceilings and under the linoleum if you can pop it up at the edges...

I get it at a local pharmacy which also has all the pesticides and traps...It has destroyed every bug that came into contact with it...corpses in abundance for awhile.

DDT...good chance it does...be sure to open all windows and doors to allow it to ventilate...and a light coat is more than enough...

I recommend coating the exterior frames of windows and doors with the Materkill...traps inside if the problem isn't very serious...as for the DDT I wouldn't doubt it...but I don't know if it does...could be soju and model glue for all I know...just found the stuff very effective...
