Threads focusing on religion are not permitted. Attempts to start or promote such threads, including resurrecting inactive religion threads, will be followed by sanctions.

In principle, we have no problem with people looking to meet fellow Jews, Christians, and Muslims. The problem is with people seeking to make a Dexter comment, discuss religion, say that the person asking to meet fellow Jews or Christians means they're free to talk about how they disagree with the New Testament, TANACH (TORAH), or the Quran.


The OP did nothing wrong in asking about where he could find fellows who shared his faith. The problem was the users who thought that means it means they're free to discuss religion. That's why it was locked. Posting the same thread after it's locked is a TOS violation.


Asking if there are fellow Jews or Christians or Muslims is not in the TOS or a TOS violation to be fair. We're free to lock such a thread if a religious debate ensues.


The problems in one of the threads was one person thinking someone asking about fellow Christians, Jews, or Muslims means there's an invitation to discuss religion or bash someone's faith. That's a problem and users may receive a warning or more.


You can ask where certain temples are located. That's fine, users are not free to open religious debates that lead to flame wars.

A blanket policy does and has not included barring someone from asking if people of his or her faith around. It's not forbidden.
However, a moderator may lock the original thread if people decide to engage in a religious discussion.

For example, one person said Christianity is a dying religion. That's not what the OP asked anymore than if a Muslim asking about Muslims is asking about your interpretation of the Chapter in his holy book. That's the problem. So if someone wants to ask such a question in future, it's not the problem. It's the people with "smart" comments who don't care to show respect to other people.

So if people don't want such threads where someone asks such an innocuous question and wants to disrespect someone asking such a question, then you're hurting the OPs seeking to find friends who share their faith simply because you can't be mature enough to respect that they don't agree with you spiritually. So, folks, if someone is looking for a Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, if you know the answer, then answer it. Otherwise, leave it alone.

In answer to CJ's question, you can ask about Hindu temples, mosques, Churches, or Buddhist temples. It's a normal question.
Those who use such discussions to attack others, we're going to take action against you. Simply show respect to other people and be mature.

I think we can expect that, and will make users respect that and will take action against them if they don't. One fellow who made a Dexter comment about the OP's faith was penalized. Don't try to play smart with us, and don't insult people who don't have your beliefs and don't purposely try to engage in a religious discussion or try to turn any thread into a discussion over religion. It's not acceptable.
