Makes me nervous aboutupgrading my 100cc scooter for a 250cc bike.

I've heard of a few foriegners dying or getting hurt in motorcylce accidents here...

Well I guess it's not just foriegners but ppl keep trying to tell me it's more dangerous here than in England.

This is at least inspiration for me to be extra careful on the roads i guess.

Sad story

The driving conditions for motorcyclists in Seoul and major Korean cities are highly dangerous. You're taking your life in your hands. It's not the same in the West where there exists some etiquette for motorcyclists. Here, if you're on two wheels, you survive by your instinct alone.

I've known several.

Just this week my friend is returning to Korea for a short visit from surgery and rehab in Canada after a motorcycle accident he was in here in rural Gyeongsangnam province last spring. He is gonna ship his bike back to Canada and sell/pack the rest of his stuff, finished with Korea after 10 years here, with a limp to show for it.

I bought a Korando jeep myself because I wanted the front ram bar protection for head-on collisions. I still take the bus for jaunts to the cities, sitting 3/4 of the way to the back of the big relatively safe buses, trying always to minimize risks.

Riding a bike in Korea is maximizing risk of injury or death. I'm sure smoking is better for one's health statistically.

I've known a couple myself. One of my former colleagues was made a paraplegic after a crash (the girl riding with him was killed). Another former colleague had, IIRC, three accidents on a bike and one of them was quite bad.

Regarding the front ram bar--a couple years ago, we were forced to take ours off our Carens (it came with it) as it was considered illegal equipment; it would not pass the regular safety check otherwise.

OK, back on topic...

HOLY CHIT!!!
I saw this thread titled Jongno guru, by tiger beer and thought emmm what's up with that thread, so I watched it for a couple days to to see if the last post was from jongno himself.. but seemed like he never posted in there, then couple more days go by and I see it again, and think to myself.. emmm maybe its an old thread someone has dug up but I still don't click on it to come in, just pass it over..,
but then I thought actually I havent seen Jongnos posts anywhere these days.. emmmm why is that , where is he?
so I came in today.. and to my horror!!
My best PM friend on daves has died!! OMG!! jongno and I shared countless pm's over 5 years, talking about all kinds of things..
mostly about movies, and home cinemas which we both have a hobby for..
I remember seeing his lovely house when he posted pictures up on it back in the day , he had a beautiful home...
Jongnoguru with the Peter lorre - MR MOTO avatar was always a poster I took time out to read..
he was loved by all and was a true gentleman and a scholar...
he will TRUELY be missed...
RIP...

Very sad news.

I knew that I liked his posts but didn't realize how long he'd been here or how much he'd impacted other posters.

A class act, for sure.

My condolences for those who knew him well.

When Cass Red was first released in Korea, JG and I enjoyed some forum banter about it. I think he polished off 2 pitchers, whereas I quit after 3/4 of 1.
