"Losers take drugs"

What a bunch of close-minded, brainwashed and ignorant people we have on the forum.

OP, is it really worth risking it though? Personally, i would judge it not to be, but its obviously your choice.

http://www.theonion.com/content/node/30072

That said, look on the internet for drug test info, don't post on a public forum about it when (chances are 95%, unless you are planning to work at an adult hagwon) YOU ARE APPLYING TO A JOB TO TEACH CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I could say the same about 50% of the posts on the general discussion forum as well, but I will keep my mouth shut about that for now)

And?

In what specific way are mushrooms worse to ingest than alcohol or cigarette smoke. Please, enlighten me with some facts.

That's not the point. The point is mushrooms (psychedelics) are illegal and he shouldn't hope to pass into Korea having ingested them. What's ignorant, brain washed, and closed-minded about that?

The part where you call him a loser. But you've skated off topic from that now.

What is it specifically that makes him a loser? Because he did something illegal? Because he considered consuming a substance that would alter his mind state, but in a much safer way than alcohol or cigarettes? Becuase you havent done it yourself?

I really would like to know what specific part of taking drugs would make someone a loser.

According to you, he's not a loser. But you've said it's a risk not worth taking. You obviously see something wrong and stupid in the action of ingesting mushrooms. So if he does take this risk, what does that make him to you? Intelligent?

You still arent answering my question.

What is it specifically that makes OP a loser?

As for your off topic ramble, I think OP did the intelligent thing in coming to a forum with people who have first hand experience with the drugs test taken in Korea before coming to a decision for him/herself.

Safer? One beer, one cigarette, one psychedelic mushroom. One mushroom is safer than a beer or cigarette? That's just ignorant. A beer or cigarette doesn't make you believe you're Super Man and can stop a train with your body.

Yes, someone willing to do psychedelic mushrooms is a loser. Willfully making the choice to put oneself at such fatal risk is stupid and makes one a loser.

I'm not advocating drug use, but your description of the effects of mushrooms sounds more like those of angel dust or bad acid or something.

Having spent four years at UMass-Amherst I outta know (don't how it is today, but when I attended seemingly half the folks walking around campus were on something).

Pray tell, what exactly is this scientific evidence?

Finally! An answer!

One mushroom is the equivalent of going on a trip of what one drop of alcohol is to getting drunk. You are far safer and in control of your own actions after eating one mushroom than you are after having one pint.

As for the bullshit you peddled about alcohol being safer, take a look here:

"The National Institute For Occupational Safety And Heath (NIOSH) in the US Psilocybin (641) is rated less toxic than Aspirin (199) and Nicotine (21). "

Over the past 34 years, there has been only one report in the medical literature of a death associated with use of these mushrooms. In this case, an 18-year-old experienced a disturbed heart rhythm.

"Over 76 million people are currently affected by alcohol use disorders, such as alcohol dependence and abuse"
"Alcohol causes 1.8 million deaths a year, which represents 3.2% of all deaths worldwide. Unintenional injuries account for about a third of the deaths from alcohol. Alcohol is the third most common cause of death in developed countries"
1.8 MILLION DEATHS A YEAR
http://www.greenfacts.org/en/alcohol/l-2/01-number-people-affected.htm

There is obviously a risk of being killed as a result of an action that the user chooses to do whilst on a trip, but it is no more likely that you'd die from an action you do whilst drunk.

The Home Office in the UK has an FAQ about magic mushroom, and under the question:
Where is the evidence that mushrooms are harmful, this is the answer:

"Magic mushrooms are highly hallucinogenic. They can be particularly harmful to those with existing heart conditions or a mental illness or with an underlying mental health problem and can precipitate psychosis. Users are also vulnerable to self harm whilst under the influence and, like LSD which works on the same pharmacological principle as psilocin, those using mushrooms may experience negative flashbacks."

No facts, no figures, just general statements and a lot of "can"s and "may"s

Take a look at this experiment undertaken to quantify the dangers of 20 drugs, pay particular note as to where alcohol and tobacco come in. Also of note is LSD (another hallucinogen), which is much further down the list in terms of harm
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/6474053.stm#drugs
If alcohol and cigarettes were discovered today, do you really think they would be legal?

But, i expect you to continue to swallow whatever information on drugs you are thrown by the government and the ignorant masses that blindly believe whatever they are told, rather than doing your own research and drawing your own conclusions.
