Korea Herald wrote:
The government yesterday designated April 15 as a public holiday to help people cast ballots to elect the lawmakers who will launch the 17th National Assembly on June 1.
The decision was made at the first Cabinet meeting presided over by Acting President Goh Kun, the nation's prime minister who became interim leader after Friday's impeachment of President Roh Moo-hyun.

It also comes on the heels of rumors that the opposition parties are trying to delay the elections until the end of May, when the four-year term of lawmakers in the Assembly expires.

I imagine schools, offices, and hagwons will be closed then so we will be getting the day off!

When does the first "MY HOGWON WON'T CLOSE!" thread appear?
(For those keeping track, 4/15 is a Thursday.)

Not to be rude, but are you going to go vote? Are your young students going to go vote? Will your school be a polling place?

Just curious....are schools even used as polling places? I know ours were and while I forget what they actually did, I know we had school on Election Day. I think we were just crammed into half the gymnasium or something during lunch.

I wish that they would impeach more people in this country so that we could have more holidays...

Are you sure all the employees at our school - including the support staff - are foreign? Are you also sure that we teach young students?

A public holiday is a public holiday. The government didn't decree, "Public holiday for everyone, BUT OF COURSE NOT THE WAEGUKS!!" That's like saying only the Christians can have Christmas off.

it was a holiday 4 years ago I recall.

I'm happy and a bit upset. I'm happy for the day off since I have 6 classes that day and it gives me a 4 day weekend. I'm upset because I lose the class meeting before midterms to go over things

oh well, lets hope for warm weather that day, i'd love to get out and do something that day
