Just thought I'd add my home page to the thread. It's for those who already have a grasp on basic grammar. It's all through music... |

Ah, when you enter the page you can see a small room - on the right it says "Korean study - Խ' (bulletin board). Click on the tab on the right that says Խ and after that you'll be able to see a section entitled "Learning Korean through music". It's all in there. |

I actually only know that one song of theirs, track 3 on the CD that was really famous. I bought one of their cds to give to my little brother last Christmas but being a gift, I didn't open it up and listen.
Are their other songs worthwhile? After I finish all the Jaurim songs I'll likely move on to another band. |

I don't know how worthwhile they are for translating (as I don't understand enough korean) I downloaded quite a few of their songs and really like them.. unfortunately I don't have the song names as my P2P doesn't support korean...
Thanks for putting the effort into helping people learn korean.. I'll get into it when I get back to Korea (and I can finally use Bug's Music properly again).. |

No problem - it seems that a few reporters might be interested in writing a bit on the site as well; I've gotten a few emails. I just thought I'd mention as well that I upload new songs there every day, and that I take questions as well if anybody discovers something that they can't figure out. |

I've been using this website www.talktomeinkorean.com. Thinks it brilliant so far!
They teach you through podcasts, focusing on certin parts of the language in each one |

I've also been using talktomeinkorean.com, and there are some great youtube videos through talktomeinkorean and koreanclass101.
I'm not in Korea but I'm hoping to teach next year... after going to China and knowing no Chinese I'm hoping to get a head start on Korean so that my time there is more enjoyable.
Does anyone know of a good online dictionary with audio? I've found a couple that you can pay for but free would be nice. |

Not sure where to post this because I don't want to spam, but this site has helped me so much, so I want to share it:
http://shortcutkorean.com/
Awesome for learning Korean vocabulary, so far they have the core 2000 words with full audio, images and 2 example sentences, apparently it will be updated to the core 5000 conversational words within the next few months.
It's still in beta, so it's all free at the moment. |

In case no one has used it or seen it yet, an incredibly in depth website for learning Korean is http://www.howtostudykorean.com/. I'm only on lesson 18 out of 125 lessons and I've been working at it quite a bit in my free time.
I started out picking up words from Netflix shows, then picked up a set of flashcards and the book "Hangeul Master: Become a Hangeul Master" to get me going on 한글. Picking up the character writing and reading is pretty quick as long as you have a couple of good resources. And I absolutely used Romanization for the first month or two. It helped me, but I could see where it would hinder some people. You definitely need to drop off using it as soon as you understand the sounds.
I also use Memrise: https://www.memrise.com/, which was linked from How to Study Korean, because they have courses on there. Memrise has mobile apps that are ridiculously easy to use and set goals with.
Hope that helps! |
