The best place I've been, as a foreign country of course, is Thailand. Korea, not so great really despite years here, although Taiwan is not great either... just my opinion. Hey lots of countries... methinks the middle east would not appeal to me either. |

Well, every place has its charms. I love Mexico for the weather, culture, and the people though. I'd love to live there for an extended period of time. |

1. Blow-Me-Down Brook, outside Corner Brook, Nfld.
2. Perhentian Islands, Malaysia.
3. Quebec City, PQ. One of my all-time favourite places.
That being said, I'm intrigued by the post refering to the coastline in Australia. I bet it's got my top three beat. I'd love to visit. |

Yea, it is a long distance. But it's not nearly as impossible to see it as you might think. Tourism's big in Australia, plenty of bus services. Not that expensive to do it, either...it's just getting the ticket to Australia that cuts your pocket wide open.
There's just so many places I saw that rocked the Casba there...Grampians...12 Apostles...that area with a bunch of lakes between Canberra and Melbourne...Melbourne...Sydney...Whitsunday Islands...*sigh*
I need to go back to that. |

RANKING OF ONLY THE PLACES I HAVE BEEN!! (25 places total).
1. Brazil
2. South Korea
3. Vietnam
4. China
5. Philippines
6. Ecuador
7. Peru
8. Argentina
9. Cambodia
10. Mexico
11. Thailand
12. Amsterdam
13. Japan
14. Hong Kong
15. Chile
16. Turkey
17. Indonesia
18. Malaysia
19. Venezuela
20. Bolivia
21. Singapore
22. Nepal
23. Hungary
24. USA
25. Canada
Of course USA&Canada goes at the bottom, because I'd be there if I didn't like traveling and being abroad so much more!
--------------------
NOTE: re-ordering the list. Wrote the above list in March 2003. As of May 2004 Im now in Spain and thinking everything completely different!!! Here is the new May 2004 list..
1. Thailand
2. Philippines
3. Cambodia
4. Indonesia
5. Singapore
6. Brazil
7. Vietnam
8. Spain
9. Indonesia
10. Malaysia
11. Japan
12. Peru
13. Mexico
14. China
15. Hong Kong
16. Amsterdam
17. Argentina
18. USA/Canada
19. Turkey
20. South Korea
21. Chile
22. Bolivia
23. Hungary
24. Venezuela
25. Nepal
Just a note, I did like everywhere.. so kind of difficult putting those other ones on the bottom. Also it seems that in time with different perspectives, the thinking changes on places as well..
The biggest difference is after just having spent another year in Korea.. at this time Im a bit wornout on Korea.. and as of lately I have re-energized my interest in southeast asia. Another feeling is after being back in a Spanish-speaking country (ie Spain).. while I like it.. it brings back a lot of memories and things I missed about Latin America back into perspective and many of their numbers have actually went down abit. In short, a total restructuring of the list based on 14 months of other experiences, thoughts, accumulation of information, and a change in interests, and on and on and on.
