Only 4 classes showing up for Level 4 at the moment. All of them are afternoon classes....no evening classes.

I hope more institutions will post information soon. Is that normal, for information to come in drips and drabs? Or is there just less choice for higher levels. Last semester there was about 15 different places for level 3.

Hey guys, just wondering, when you signed up for the 중간평가, after level 4 was completed. How did you signup/register for it?

For the first assessment test, 평가시험, there is a special signup link for it at the top of the socinet page. But I wonder where I will see the signup for this other, 중간평가 test.

I'll answer my own question from earlier. Yes, more institutions have just been added to the website. Most are morning or afternoon classes, but some evening classes too.

There were a ton more added today. Finally found something that fit well. Can't wait to get this started (and finished!).

Hear, hear!

I'm taking the TOPIK exam the same week this course finishes in April. Looking forward to May and hopefully having enough points for the visa at last!

My motivation is simply to improve my Korean ability. The visa is just a bonus.

But yes, also looking forward to finishing^^

Hey guys, I thought I registered for the placement test this semester but I never got any notifications as...anything.

Did the first semester of classes start? I would hate to think that I have to wait ANOTHER semester. Sad

I can't figure that freaking website out for the life of me! Question

I don't think the classes have started yet, but the placement test was held this past Saturday, unfortunately. Hope you can get registered for the next test. I know the site is a pain, though, so let me/us know if you need any help figuring out what to do to register.

What did you do to register? It's definitely not the most user friendly site and they don't send out notifications by email, unfortunately. What do you see on your "My Page" (log in, then the 2nd link from the right at the top - you can set it to English)?

Daniel1981 posted some good info about registering for the placement test on page 12 of this thread - that should help, assuming the process hasn't changed in the meantime. Basically you register for the test, and then in the week before it happens you print the exam card on the website which has your name and test location listed. After that it's just a matter of turning up. Once you're in the programme it's not so bad, but getting started is a headache.

As spaceman82 said above, the classes aren't starting until the beginning of March (in Seoul and Suwon, at least) so it might be worth calling up to see if there's anything they can do. It's probably a long shot, though.

I also missed the registration by a few days last year, so I know it's really frustrating..

Did anyone take the test this past Saturday? Results should be out anytime now. Going by reviews of previous tests, this one seemed easier than what was described. Not too much cultural content and the speaking portion was blindingly easy (where do you usually meet your freinds -type questions).

I already have my F2-7, but I figured I'd take the level test anyways and, if I get into level 4 or 5, just finish out the program for a potential shot at naturalization.

Anyways - good luck everyone! Smile

I took it again this year (for the third time). I thought the written portion was harder than the last two years' in terms of grammar level, but there was very little, if any, culture-related content, which was true of last year's test as well. The only thing that could be considered cultural that I can remember actually was the question about the term for bowing on 설날.

In regard to the speaking portion, I thought it was easier than last year but also more effective since they worked up from easy to difficult (at the end, they asked me how I thought the world would be different 50 years from now), whereas last year I didn't see how they could place people in the lower levels with any precision based on the difficulty of the questions they were giving.

Any idea when they'll be releasing the test results, by the way?

Spaceman, just wondering why would you take the level test 3 times?

Surely most people just take the level test once, get put in the appropriate level, move on up through the different levels, then finish!

A lot of it had to do with scheduling and my own indecision as to whether or not I would be staying in Korea. The first time I took the test I missed the registration date for classes for some reason (can't remember what happened) and then just gave up on the idea for a while. Then the next year I decided to try again and so took the test again, but then I couldn't find any classes that worked with my schedule (I work long hours) and got frustrated with what was available. I even tried for weekend classes and couldn't find anything. After seeing how difficult it was going to be to make it to classes, I decided to just try to level up on my own outside of the program. I've since studied hard on my own and took the test this time hoping to get placed directly into the culture classes. We'll see what happens, I guess...
