I'll be doing a run to osaka sometime in the middle of may and would love any advice anyone has to offer. If someone will be going the same day that would be great too.

Anyone interested if this idea gets turned into a Yahoo Club/Group for people to discuss and advise on visa runs, plus meet others who are going around the same time as you, for travel companions? Or make a Visa Run Club sticky thread here?

I'll get this started, and I'll post the address for anyone who wants to join.

The address for the club is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/visarunclub

You need a Yahoo ID to join, but it's free, just click the 'sign up' button and you're there. I'm willing to have some help in running the club, so if anyone wants to help, let me know via PM here or in the group.

Time to resurrect this thread.

It's 1 year later and time to change schools and head to Osaka.

I may be leaving on Thur. 5/28 and staying overnight.

Anyone know where their is a cheap but decent place to stay near Namba or Shinshaibashi Stations?

Wed. is the 26th. Thurs. is the 27th.

Make sure you don't got your dates crossed.

Wed. is also Buddha's birthday. Of course, all Korean government offices are closed.

Is this a holiday in Japan as well?

well change of plan, going Thursday night and staying over in Osaka.
Has anyone stayed over? Last time I went I did it in a day, this time I have to stay in a motel or whatever?

Does anyone, ANYONE, have ANY advice or info about where's best to stay near the embassy in Osaka? Where did those of you stay when you stayed there?

Thanks in advance.

I stayed at the Chisan in shinsaibashi. (Link below) There's alot of hotels in that general area, but I had problems because I didn't have a reservation. I spent alot of time wandering around trying to get a room. It's an okay place. The staff were pretty helpful in giving me directions to the tourist sites.

Is it near the embassy? The sole reason for my trip is to go to the embassy, I'm not looking to live it up champagne style in Japan, just lookin for a place to crash seeing as I have to stay.

Prices? etc?
Thanks by the way.

Ouch. That hotel looks a bit expensive. 85,000 won a night for a single. There's cheaper.

Here's some websites to locate Osaka/Japan hotels:
To Coo! Nice discounts.
Yahoo! Travel
asiatravel.com
lodging.com

Like I said, I didn't make a reservation, so most of the hotels were booked. Embarassed It was the first one that had a vacancy after a couple hours of trying, so I wasn't too picky about price at that point.

In regards to location, I'd say it's maybe 15 minutes away from the embassy on foot. The link in my original post gives you location.

The embassy is on the same street as shinsaibashi station. There's great directions on finding the embassy in one of the faqs (link below). They tell you what exit to use coming out of the subway and everything. So, to get to the Embassy you want to use the exit 7, turn right, and walk straight for a bit.

Those two subway stations are actually really close together.
