Further more, it is discrimination and illegal (I think) against foreign workers for the police to require only E2 visa holding NETs to submit to a random drug test because another teacher who you don't even know that happens to live in the same -do as you was arrested for using/selling drugs. |
Has this happened? Apart from an unverifiable story on Dave's? |

I don't know if it happened, but it sounded like it might. And this was at the time we were discussing it (months ago). |
To be honest that letter looks like a hoax and I should think we would have heard something about someone getting caught before now if it were legit as well. |

I agree, but at the time of the conversation you originally quoted me from, it was only a few weeks old. And it caused quite a stir.

There was a rather long and heated thread here on Dave's too but it was deleted apparently.
But even if it hasn't happened, it doesn't lessen my point that "if" it did happen, it would be illegal/wrong.
Anyway, you gotta love that rumor mill!!

I'm only able to offer an account of what happened to myself and co-teachers at my hagwon when there was a bust in Incheon a couple of years ago.
We were all called into an office and told that the immigration rules "changed" and the police "required urine samples from all the foreign teachers". The disturbing part was that it was in the middle of the semester (most had been working for 5~7 months already). A few teachers in the area made a dash for greener pastures but the dozen of us at the hagwon relented and gave the school what they asked for. Can't verify it for you, as it didn't hit the press however does every crime make it to the evening news? |

Agreed. (Provided it's not in the contract you agreed to) |

I can think of no society in the world that would benefit more from a mass influx of cannabis leaf than South Korea. Koreans need to learn how to relax. |

LOL! KOREAN CELEBS ARE DOING DRUGS NOW? WHO, AND WHAT KIND? I seriously hope drugs stay OUT of Korea. I don't want my kids anywhere near the amount of drugs I was exposed to in America.
I wish there was strict rules set in place like in the Middle East for drugs here. After all, if you don't do them, you have nothing to worry about. |

In another thread he's backing up an ajossi physically assaulting some teenagers for using banmal; I'm guessing he's serious. |
