Can a foreign teacher order internet service at the apartment before they get an ARC?

No. I'm pretty sure you need an ARC.

Not by yourself.

Your employer can do it, a friend can do it (with Korean ID) but you cannot do it without your ARC.

Thanks guys. I'll ask my boss to do it again.

The hardest part of teaching in Korea - getting water, electricity, internet, and gas at home. The rest is a piece of cake.

Alright. I gave it a shot today to see what would happen. A lady here in town called KT for me and got an English speaker on the line. KT gave me some internet service. When I told my boss, she asked how much it is per month and I told her 39,000. She said she pays 15,000 for hers. In any case, I'm just glad to have some home internet service after they come by tomorrow.

Don't feel bad. Koreans or F visa holders get large discount on Internet service for signing up for 3 or more years.

That makes me feel better. They were going to waive the 33,000 won installation fee if would sign up for a year, but I passed since I'm already 50 days into my contract.
