Ewww there is a tatoo place in Songtan and Itaewon, but the men look so gross I would rather share intervenious needles than get a tatoo done here.

Well I actually used the search engine and it seems that Korea is not the place to get some ink done.

I think I will get some good prints and have it done in Thailand.

My Thai dragon took 10 hours to do and only cost me 150$ cdn and I tipped the guy 50$ for doing such a bang up job. Still 200$ CDN for 10 hours is pretty cheap.

Thanks Crois

I had a student once whose sister owned a tattoo shop in New York City. She told me not to get any work done here in Korea, as the artists just aren't good enough.

I've heard the ink artists in Thailand are top-notch, though. Everytime I go there, I promise myself to get a tattoo done, but I end up blowing all my money (in the wrong places).

On the subject of tattoos, are Koreans very anti-tattoo?

I have the remains of a homemade rabbit on my forearm that was partially removed many years ago, would I be doomed to wearing long-sleeved shirts every time I am near the school?

I saw those guys in Itaewon do a tattoo once. Some Irish guy was getting a Celtic design around his wrist and the tattoist's hand was shaking so badly because he hadn't had a drink in a few hours. Totally messed up.

Actually I've found having tattoos makes being a teacher easier.

The fact that I have a tattoo and ride a motorcycle seems to elicit either fear or admiration from my middle and high schoolers making them easier to teach.

Personally I think that's nearly the same as saying that it's easier being a teacher if you're white and not a large black male -- seeing as what the view of blacks are to many Koreans

But hey, if that's what it takes to be good at your job then more power to you

Wink
