I haven't noticed any jerkiness with JB but I am running Omega 27.2 with Siyah kernel on my m440s. |

I like Omega, it is basically a stock rom that is modded and can easily be modded. I just noticed in the Omega change log for 27.2 they fixed a notification bar bug. Maybe that is what you are experiencing? Omega link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663656
I have CM10 as my 2nd rom dual booting with Siyah kernel. But I found it to be too buggy to use all the time. So I just update it and see if I have the same problems but they will probably be there until Samsung releases the Exynos sources to the devs. |

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Dual booting sounds nice too, as long as I don't manage to brick my phone somehow. All in all it seems to be easier now with the 440S/i9300 than it was with the 110S/i9000 (hope I got the numbers right - Galaxy-S III vs. Galaxy-S).
Better involvement of Korean modders on XDA, too. |

My guess would be Yongsan but that's not really necessary; XDA has the steps well described for all models of S3.

I did this myself pretty early and it worked without a hitch. Just make sure that you know if your phone is on ICS or already on JB.
Oh, and the 3G and LTE variants are also different. Look at the XDA forums, it is all well explained. |

Hmm, I read about that (on XDA)... something about a "self-healing" recovery, where the phone repairs any non-standard recovery at every boot. AFAIR, the solution was fairly easy by renaming the backup recovery on the system partition (of course root is needed for that).
I can't find the post now, sorry. I'll look around. |

Flash cwm in odin, make sure you uncheck "auto reboot". Once it is done flashing then give the three finger salute to go into recovery. If you let it boot into your stock rom first it will write over the custom recovery and you must flash cwm again. Cwm has something built in that after it is run once it won't let your rom overwrite the recovery. So you will be good to go after that.
You can also find pre-rooted stock roms here... just flash it in odin.

thanks. but how long would it take? when i did that yesterday, my phone was stuck in download mode for awhile. by "flashing" you mean after odin says everything is done? like after 5-7 seconds... |

I'm looking to buy an unlocked Galaxy S3 with the aim of using it in the US/Canada and maybe Ireland. I am really confused about whether it will work or not.
On the one hand I've been told that as long as it has a sim card slot, I can use it with other sim card using providers such as Rogers, T-mobil and At&T.
I have also heard that if it's an LTE model as opposed to 3G, that I will have problems getting it to work. Is this true? Can I use an LTE model abroad, but just not use the LTE function? I don't particularly want to use LTE as I have heard 3G is better for getting an unlimited data plan, which is what I want.
Am supposed to be meeting a seller this evening to buy an unlocked S3 (model number SHV-210k) but now think this is an LTE model so unsure if it's a good idea to purchase.
I'd appreciate any advice!!! |
