I have a week vacation coming up at the end of July and I want to visit another country. I have considered Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, and Thailand. Probably leaning toward Taiwan at the moment because I have a friend there.

Does anybody have any advice on how to go about planning a trip. What are the best websites to buy flight tickets? Should I get travelers insurance? Do I need to do anything about my visa? Would you recommend just going to a travel agency?

Thanks for any help, I'm not really sure how to go about doing this.

You should always get travelers' insurance.

All E2 visas are multiple entry now; you're fine as long as you have your ARC.

You can often find deals flying from Korea by using travel agents.

Looking at Taiwan then look at Air China (not China Air) or EVA for cheap seats.

So far I've always used SkyScanner.com to search and I've found the cheapest prices on there compared to other sites... so far.

Do you definitely need your ARC to go to Taiwan, or any other country for that matter?

You need your ARC to exit the country and when you return.

Good question but since this card is the proof you are fully registered with Immigration (meaning it proves you are legally permitted to reside and work in Korea), you may want to carry it with you when you travel in and out of Korea.

If you want more information, check out the kimmi site.

Not sure about when leaving, but if you don't have it when you arrive back you may just get a tourist visa. If you already have lots of Korean stamps in your passports, you may face a lot of questions about what your plans are here and you may also need to show proof of onward travel.
