Congrats! I've known a number of very happy EPIK teachers. Don't listen to the pessimists.

Wait until you get your feet wet then talk about nagative nancies. You may eventually end up being one. Laughing

But with a little effort you don't have to be one. You can moan about kimchi and the weather all you like, it's more likely just will annoy those around you than change anything.

I've overseen hundreds of recruits coming into my province & I'm guessing this extends country-wide: a large majority of epik teachers have been somewhat or very content with their situations.

Of the few who were not, three-quarters invited their own negative experience by being prickly or weird. That leaves a very small percentage of good people who did unfortunately get stuck with untenable positions.

Odds are definitely in your favor.

Best luck, newbs!

After we are accepted and mail in all the documents, what else do we do? Wait for visa information?

I passed my interview last week and my docs are winging their way to SK now. My recruiter says that at this point all that remains is for EPIK to send my appointment package which I'll need to take to my local Korean Embassy and they will give me my visa. Then its just a case of booking my flight! Very Happy

My docs were just received in SK today! My EPIK coordinator said they won't start recommending applicants for another few weeks. Then it can take 4-5 weeks to hear back. We will start hearing back about placements mid-December, at the earliest.

I wouldn't worry too much, Jeremy. I think a lot of people are still waiting on their background checks to come back from the FBI, so you seem ahead of the game. EPIK won't start making recommendations for another few weeks anyway.
