|

I need to get a desktop pc. I'm sick of my old laptop.
I have pretty much made up my mind that I'm going to get an Alienware x51 pc. I'm heading back to the US this month and this would fit into a carry on bag on the plane.
I was a little worried about the 120 vs 240 voltage issue. I've seen desktops that have a switch in back that you can change from 120 to 240. I asked Dell whether the pc would have this switch and they said it has auto voltage and can take either. Is this like the "brick" that is on a laptop power cord that can take just about any type of electricity? If it is, I think it would be no problem to connect this pc to a monitor and speakers that I would buy in Korea.
If anyone knows of problems I'll have bringing a pc over here, please share.
I have thought about getting a new pc here in Korea. I find the Korean version of windows annoying. This could be my last year over here, the fact that I could easily take a small pc with me is nice. I don't want the hassle of selling a pc a year from now. I've looked at craigslist, and it seems like people want top dollar for a used pc.
Thanks for reading all this, and I appreciate any helpful advice. |

Hate to burst your bubble!
The Alienware x51 is pretty much the bottom of the barrel.
It would be ok for a casual gamer but beyond that over priced.
For instance if you found that the GT 545 wasn't enough for your games; no room at all for a decent upgrade.
Faster cards need a bigger case.
Faster cards will need a bigger power supply.
You can go here and see the latest Video card rankings.

The GT 545 has the power from a card that is about 6 years old.
So the question is are the games you will be playing that old? |

Those links are useful. Thank you.
My favorite game at the moment is League of Legends. In general, I stay away from trying out the newest games. For example, I still play Diablo 2. I won't pick up D3 unless some some expansion or patch comes out. |
