Question... So if I just got a new 2.6 Quad core i7 with 16 gigs of RAM, how can I measure how much faster this would be than my old 3.06 Ghz Intel Core Duo with 8 gigs of Ram. Both systems use 7200 rpm hard drives.
I want to know what the difference is (big?) so that I can justify going out and spending the money. I looked at a few sites but really want to compare these exact specs. Anyone out there have any good advice? |

Download Passmark. After you run it, it will place your machine on a graph comparing it to others with their stats, etc.

what are you going to be doing with it?
pcs have reached a point now where they don't need to get any better unless you are doing some specialised task
*gaming
*video editing
* cad work
etc.
are you a gamer?
these days a new pc isn't worth it for just internet etc.
the best upgrade any pc can get is an ssd drive
are you sure you don't wanna just do that? |
