Honestly, they sound like a couple of scam artists to me.

Clever and cutesy scam artists, but scam artists all the same.

I like to imagine the average simonandmartina fan is a 9th grade girl in California, Korean-American, with a desperate, yet poorly thought out desire to go to Korea so that she can see all of the Infinite and Big Bang concerts her heart desires and learn how to speak Korean properly.

Either that, or chubby Mormon Koreaboo women who think that Korea is a land of purity, politeness and sexual restraint, and they want to get a job there when they finish their Mornom college, and these bland, stupid videos help them to live vicariously.

Both of these people will kick $10 to these clowns if they think it will get them closer to their dreams.

Simon and Martina's blog and videos have about the same weight and taste for Korean culture that "I'm On a Boat" has for music videos.

What a scam.
They don't need a D-8 visa to register a company, and it's easy and inexpensive (even for foreigners).
And they don't need to live in Seoul to register a business in Seoul: all they need is some sort of address in Seoul, it can be anything, any tiny office will do: many Korean companies rent tiny offices in Gangnam just so they can say their business is in Gangnam, while really operating somewhere else.
Those 2 clowns certainly don't need 100,000,000 won to waste space on Youtube.

Scammers for sure. I can't stand them to be honest, but I do find myself checking out their site from time to time and watching the videos because it absolutely astounds me how people their age can act so, oh, I don't know, childish and gay (in the non-homosexual sense of the word, but Simon is a bit iffy all around, and just downright creepy).

That said, I do have a tiny inkling of respect for them, for finding a need and filling it, and profiting from it. Obviously all self-respect goes out the window, but if it dyes Martina's hair pink and buys Simon hipster tees then all the more power to them. What they are doing is fleeting though, I would like to see what they are doing in five years when Simon is bald and Martina is, god, whatever she will become. Perhaps by then they will have an ounce of maturity in them, although as it stands it looks doubtful.

You guys don't seem to understand what a "scam" is.

They entertain hundreds of thousands of people. They want a new studio so they can better entertain us. We voluntarily donate so that they can get this studio to better entertain us. It's fine if you don't like them or get their humor, but no part of that is a scam.
