Guy Sorman, French economist, philosopher, and present political adviser to the Lee Myung-bak administration, lambastes the Korean government for self-professing and exaggerating the "hallyu" phenomenon overseas. French intellect acknowledges K-Pop's fame abroad, but recognizes its global success at the work by Korean artists, not by the Korean government. Sorman urges administration to instead put public funds to preserve and promote Korea's vast historical treasures, which embarrassingly, remains unknown abroad. Sorman is a former global adviser to the Kim Dae-jung and Roh Mooh-hyun administrations.
