My internet speeds have been killed after trying a VPN service, even after disconnecting the VPN, closing it, and restarting the computer.
I tried PureVPN yesterday, and plan to use it to try to watch Sunday night football from America. I have Cable and More and without VPN I used to get more than 15 Mbs download and better than 3 MBs upload. I dont remember the numbers exactly, but I think that was about it.
After trying PureVPN, even after disconnecting, closing the software, and restarting the computer (software does not restart on startup), my speeds to Seoul are now (ping = 17 ms, download =1.31 Mb, upload = error (so slow cant be measured) I do an whats my IP and it comes back for Seoul, so the VPN is not running.
Strange thing is, yesterday I used PureVPN to run through a VPN in New Jersey. So just now I tried my speedtest to a server in New Jersey and got these speeds (ping = 224 ms, Download = 2 Mbs, Upload = error). So my speed is better from New Jersey than it is from Seoul! Somehow my traffic is still being routed through New Jersey, even though PureVPN is not running and my IP is now correctly in Seoul?
Any advice for how to get my fast internet speeds again after trying a VPN is appreciated. |

OK, got it mostly fixed...
Reset the modem and router also (duh, how did I miss that)
Now download is 27 Mbs and upload is 0.3 Mbs. Upload is really slow, but should be fine for skype.
Not sure why I had to reset the modem and router even after VPN was disconnected, but there it is... |
