I'm looking for a nice and tidy article that discusses how the numerous power changes, elections, etc. have been polarizing global politics of late.

For example, the unwillingness of the US leadership to do anything globally that might damage their voter base and compromise a re-election for Obama. Also, the power change in China (amid numerous scandals) which is making it virtually impossible to be flexible on the Senkaku/Diaoyu issue for fear of appearing to weak. Similarly, there are talks in Korea of building subs to defend Dokdo from Japanese incursion.

It all seems to revolve around election-time rhetoric and these are some serious issues which are being overly complicated due to posturing.

Anyway, I need the article for a Current Events discussion class. Any links are appreciated.

This sounds complex.

If you want to research on election's role on power struggles, you have to criticize the whole idea of contemporary democracy. You also have to reject the whole idea of elections while you at it.

I recommend Hans-Hermann Hoppe's books and quotes. He is a German dude who is, according to some people, the most logical critic against conventional liberal democracy around the world as well as elections.

Anyways, stick with criticizing democracy. He is the one who said.

- Democracy has nothing to do with freedom. Democracy is a soft variant of communism, and rarely in the history of ideas has it been taken for anything else.

For his idea on electing people by voting.....

Quote:
A&K: Fine; now, lets enter political issues. In one of the articles that we read on LewRockwell.com, Why Democracy Attracts Bad People. Could you paraphrase it briefly here?

HHH: What is true, just, and beautiful is not determined by popular vote. The masses everywhere are ignorant, short-sighted, motivated by envy, and easy to fool. Democratic politicians must appeal to these masses in order to be elected. Whoever is the best demagogue will win. Almost by necessity, then, democracy will lead to the perversion of truth, justice and beauty.
