I thought it was pretty good. 8/10. Casino Royale is better, but overall it was a solid Bond flick and a little better than Quantum, which itself isn't even a bad movie. Craig is the best Bond, in my opinion. Connery was good, but the movies haven't aged well and I prefer my Bond to be serious and smart, rather than cheeky and coy.

We saw it (wife and I) and I give it a solid 4 out of 5.

Craig is the best Bond since Connery. The plot was interesting if at times a bit slow. The bad guy was superb.

This felt more like a reboot-transition than anything else but that is the fad of the day when it comes to movies.

The "new" cast was well chosen, especially the new M. The new Q was a daring choice but in the end it worked.

My personal ranking of the actors who played Bond..

Sean Connery
Daniel Craig
Pierce Brosnan (for his first 2 Bond's, the others were crap)
Roger Moore
Timothy Dalton (esp for Living daylights)
George Lazenby (only because he played in just one Bond)

Having lived in Shanghai I was hoping he'd spend more time there, it was just a place to have some nice aerial shots of Pudong and a cool fight against the neon lights. In fact I don't think anyone spoke a word for the entire time they were in SH?

The whole thing was a bit existential- why do we need spies? Who are our enemies? What place is there for a man like James Bond? Which I think is fair enough for 2012. The franchise can either give up and make the whole thing a period piece, or keep having to justify its existence.

Cool motorbike chase though, and top villains. Worth going to the cinema for.

I haven't seen the latest one, but I'm not a big fan of Daniel Craig as Bond. I just don't think he's a very good actor, not that he necessarily has to be for that role. He's alright, I guess. But, I gained a modicum of new found respect for him after watching the film Layer Cake recently, which I highly recommend. I read that flick ushered him into the role of the new Bond man, as well.

Bardem made the movie.

I though the movie was boring and drawn out, the Silva character was the only thing preventing me from falling asleep.

I'd go with

Craig
Dalton
Connery
Moore
Brosnan
The other fella.

Dalton and Craig are both highly skilled actors who spent time studying the literary Bond. I see lots of Fleming's Bond in both of them.

Lazenby (I've met him ) is the worst Bond but his only movie is one of the better ones.

Yeah, similar thoughts. It was hollow, but most modern films are, like they are going thru the motions, checking the boxes. The bad guy was the only one who I could understand, the rest of the actors seemed like robots.

Craig is just too "trying to please", be a nice little politically correct boy. But is that what a dude in this profession would be like? Connery walked around like he owned the planet with smooth confidence, seducing random chicks with his greasy smile, slipping out of trouble without resorting to brute force, ultra coooool. Cool

But Craig's character just plays it safe, dull. "Look at my pecs dude" [facepalm]
