|
|
Hi everyone,
Was wondering if an apostille is necessary for university degrees (BA and MA) when applying to university jobs if I go in from an E2-D10-E2 visa switch? I'm considering applying for uni jobs in Fall 2013, and am wondering if the apostille is only required by immigration, or if it's required by universities as well... |

Likely not, since you are transferring. Yet the Universities can have their own requirements at times for job applications. Sometimes they really do like to see the lamb skin and a nice sealed transcript.
Plus you can also expect some UNlateral thinking.
University: Oh we want the apostilled degree.
You: I do not need it, I can just transfer.
University: Ok! We understand.... So can we have the apostilled degree.
You:I do not need to have one... (explanation is given and lot more words).
University: Oh! You are too hard to deal with. We will go with someone easier! The offer is refused.
Good Luck, maybe some one else can give better advice. |

How often does this happen Skippy? Should I just get my degree apostilled just to be on the safe side? |

Another set (CBC and degree copy) with apostilles for immigration = no.
Each university has their own list of documents they require when they hire new staff. They MAY ask for them. They may not.
In my experience they usually ask for: your original undergraduate degree, post graduate degrees/certificates, sealed transcripts, list of publications (if appropriate/relevant), certificates of employment and/or letters of reference.

What's a certificate of employment? Is that after I complete my first year, and thus would not be something I bring to a job interview? |

My uni asked for a recent FBI CBC. I'm getting it apostilled just in case. It only takes a couple of weeks extra, and costs about $10. |
