Hi, is it possible to, with all the right documents for a British citizen, to go to say, Jeju Island first, and then find work? If so, are there any advantages and how much money would i need for say, a month in a hostel? (Meeting other foreigners and getting to know the area etc.) Cool

a little desperate, are we? With the difficulties in finding jobs in Korea now, I would strongly recommend not doing this--what's the hurry? Unless you have a lot money to blow on an extended vacation to Korea. You will most likely eat the airfare if you even do get hired, too.

Have you been thinking about doing this for a while? Wink

If you have ALL of the right documents (including CBC, apostilled docs etc) and qualifications and don't mind not having your airfare reimbursed then it's possible for you to get a job.

Why apply here, though, when you can do so from the comfort of your armchair?

A year or two ago it wasn't a bad idea as people already in country had a huge advantage, however that isn't the case now. The market is much tougher these days and Jeju is a really hard nut to crack job wise.

Also if you're mainly interested in the social side of things, you'll have a year (or more) to learn about that, without the pressures of job hunting.

Best advice, take your time and find the right role in the right location. Don't just rush into things because your tourist funds are low and your already here in Korea (me talking from experience).

If you're applying to a Hogwan, you can go check the Hogwan out and talk to the teachers there. This could save a lot of grief. Also most of the readily available jobs are with Hogwans.

You're not going to get a job in Jeju most likely.
