This doesn't bode well for his ongoing sucess in the US. (Not that he was likely ever to have a second hit there. I'm convinced he was destined to be a one-hit wonder in the States.) Still, I think his chances will be next to none if the lyrics of some of his older songs get out.

Check out this link (and scroll down to the lyrics in bold letters around the third page.) http://www.busanhaps.com/article/exclusive-psys-once-passionate-protesting-past

It was nice knowing you dude.

When is Fox News going to pick up on this story?

Cause when it does I'm just going heat up the pop-corn, sit back and enjoy Laughing

Quote:

PSY Rap:
Kill those f****** Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives
Kill those f****** Yankees who ordered them to torture
Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers
Kill them all slowly and painfully

Is this a correct translation?

My Korean isn't good enough to know if this translation is correct.

But this will only be recognized by small-minded, ignorant people who don't look at the whole story....yes Fox will have a field day.

P.S. I don't care what kills PSY's run, as long as it kills it but good. This song is a musical cancer. Only thing worse is listening to this annoying song get butchered on an American teenage music drama.

There is no justification for those lyrics. And no, "putting it in context" does not make it acceptable. PSY needs to be held accountable for participating in the performance of such songs. How could anyone mouth such lyrics (especially in front of crowds of thousands of impressionable youngsters). He needs to address this issue and apologize for it. Otherwise he's done.

Although I don't condone torturing any prisoners. PSY should be banned from entering the USA for promoting killing of innocent Americans.

Yeah, those lyrics, even in context, really put me off of him.

Here you are. Knock yourself out. I personally despise Fox News, but if it helps prevent a sexcond 'Gangnam Style' I'm happy to accommodate. Besides those lyrics are inexcusable. Don't give me the rubbish that he was young. He was old enough to know that such lyrics are way, way over the line.

Here's the Fox News contact information for anyone interested in sending off an email. (Ironically the contacts are from a 'boycott Fox' website. But it provides all the addresses for Fox's various shows - surely one of them would be happy to run with the story.)

That's too funny. I wonder what the extent of the backlash is going to be. Are those translated lyrics correct? When I put it into google translate I got:

"F****** torturing Iraqi prisoners Dan and the amount of room for gardeners
Advisor told you to Shit on the amount of room for gardeners
Baby Amy daughter-in-law Abby Ofay kill
Very slowly killing him suffer."

Who's Dan and what's that about gardeners? Shocked

Supposing somebody is able to get the attention of the media about this, do you think it will really matter to Americans or is Psy simply another flavor of the month? And then, supposing there is some sort of outrage, what do you think Korea's reaction will be now that there's some tarnish on their golden boy?

I felt like this too once. When I was 14. The guy was 24 at the time. Still a young guy and obviously his stance has changed since then. Not that it really matters.

By the way, 코쟁이 is a racial slur referring to the relatively big noses of white people. 딸래미 애미 며느리 애비 코쟁이 모두 죽여 basically means, "Kill daughters, mothers, daughters in law, fathers, all big nosed white people." Racist Style!

That article was nauseating to read. That Psy dude said some dreadful, horrible things about Americans "but please understand his (and Korea's) special situation." Sorry, but that line is well past its 'sell by' date. That magazine looks like its written by a bunch of apologist knuckleheads. Korean culture has a very ugly underbelly, and PSY apparently was in the middle of it.
