For some reason it seems strange to me to have a performance of Gangnam Style during a dignified ceremony (in a conservative country). |
Not strange at all, what happens at political events such as inaugurations is 'masking' the perception of public via sight and sounds. Psy's hip presence is probably to deflect the new president's connection to her authoritarian father. Granted, she has been through a 'pariah' status, but there aren't any signs that she'll take a different course from her father's rule. Hence the 'Psy' decoration to apease the nervous. |

'Gangnam Style' is the latest single to sell over a million copies in the UK.
The South Korean's viral hit has become the 129th song to pass the sales milestone in the UK, making him the first Asian artist to do so.
"This is an amazing achievement by Psy," commented Martin Talbot, managing director of the Official Charts Company.
"It is further confirmation of 'Gangnam Style' as a true phenomenon - it is the first UK million-seller by a Korean star, and a sign that K-Pop has truly arrived in the UK!" |
