Hello,

I tried searching about this, but all that came up was the Visa Run.

My girlfriend has been offered a really good position in Busan, and I have not received one yet. Would I have a higher success of finding a job nearby (walking distance, or short commute) if I went into Korea and found a job while there? How does the contract details work since I am already there?

Pro's/Con's?

Or any links if I have searched poorly

Cheers!

It's doable. People change jobs all the time. Make sure you have all the required paperwork with you.

But first, you might want to send your application to as many recruiters as you can, specifying that you want a job very near where your girlfriend will be working.

Something will come up. It's all about timing.

Good luck.

How does the contract work since I will already be in korea. Will they still pay me for airfare? Or just the basics?

Thanks

Unless things have drastically changed recently, they will typically pay your expenses for leaving the country to get your visa application processed, typically a return ticket to and from Japan with some money for other expenses. It won't come anywhere near the amount you'll spend on airfare to get here unless you're flying in from Europe or the west coast of North America.

It's highly unlikely they'll pay airfare if you're already in country, although I've heard of negotiating a slightly higher wage compensating for that.

Okay I see, that's the answer I was looking for

It is unlikely to get a higher wage since they have to pay for a visa run.

If the OP comes ahead of finding a job he will eat the airfare.
