| If i had a dollar for every time I was asked the question, I would be rich by now. Both Korean and Japanese people ask me the question. Unless I was from the tropics or the arctic then yes, most people live in an area with four seasons. What is it that they are taught that leads them to believe that only Korea (Japan) has four seasons? |

Probably that is what they are taught. What I don't understand is that some of them believe it.
Another told me, Koreans have longer stomachs than Europeans.
It seems school does emphasize how Koreans are different from non-Koreans.

That might have been a mistranslation and has a basis in fact- East Asians have disproportionately longer torsos in relation to the rest of their bodies compared to people of African or European descent. |

Heh, yes. I went to college in the general vicinity (not too far north of LA)... pretty much 85 and sunny almost every single day.
The four seasons nonsense never ends. I know it's just some robotic mimic response, but who are they kidding? Even if you give them the benefit of the doubt, does it even count if one season lasts six months while another lasts three weeks? Where I come from, it's almost always summer, but we get a couple months of winter, a month or two of Autumn, and a few weeks of spring. I guess that means there are technically four seasons. 
What do people say... the rainy season, yellow dust season, cold as balls season, and the other one I'm forgetting? |

After 8 years here, I can't recall being asked this even once~
Probably best to just answer with "no"...let them have their perceived victory that Korea has 4 seasons while your hometown does not..and move on. |

My hometown sure does have 4 seasons. However I find Korean seasons to be relatively equal length. Unlike my town's 2 weeks of summer and 5 months of winter...
Maybe that's what Koreans mean by 'four season'. All four seasons of roughly equal length. |

| I finally got tired of hearing about the four seasons in Korea as though that's something special and quoted some LA comedian (don't remember which one) who said, "Having four seasons isn't anything great when two of them suck!" |

Unless you live at the poles or the equator then you live in the temperate zone. ie you experience four seasons.
koreans generally have extremely limited knowledge of the outside world.
And it never ocurrs to them that their perceptions might be wrong.
Rather they fight tooth and claw to hang onto those perceptions.

I could believe this. Considering the preocccupation with eating here and the fact that koreans seem to stuff themselves indefinitely. |

As a Canadian from Alberta the seasons seem pretty equal.
winter dec-feb (3 months)
spring mar-may (3 months)
hot summer jun-aug (3 months)
fall sep-nov (3 months)
Please don't claim any month with the average temps above zero should be winter, cause it isn't by my standards. |

| I generally act surprised when Koreans tell me they have 4 seasons. I usually respond by saying I thought Korea only had 3. |
