Korean food for me,,,is hella good...and good for you...now obviously if you are eatting a shit load of donuts in any country its not good...But I would say the average korean or korean family eats healthier than the average american (that could be my bias or guess...Now there are groovy organic outdoor markets in places like berkeley or your health food store in practically any good sized town or city...but in general I'd say korean food can be very healthy...obviously you have to watch out how much pork knuckle stew you eat or sam gip sar etc...but the variety of food is good and various snacks like gimbap you just can't find that sort of snack in the states...but like most responses say it depends what you eat....For me korean food is very good,,,I like the dog stew,,,raw horse....I think certain cultures have different things going for it...Korea,,,I'd say the food, cultural heritage, mountains, steam saunas....etc.. Also as a korean friend said,,,look its fresh and clean...talking about eatting with chopsticks and talking about the squid and sesame leaves...

^ Wow, is that all one sentence? Shocked

Without going overboard..
I would say that on the whole Korean food is healthy.

Now, That's a very dangerous comment to make on it's own.
It is what you make it in fairness.
With most Korean dishes- there are many different varieties to have.
Add a little more of this and a little more/less/none of that.. etc

The average dish that you will get at a Korean restaurant will probably be reasonably healthy-
Too much sodium and in most cases white rice too while in themselves have some value will be unhealthy if there is too much.
If you eat too much of these (salted from restaurants) foods then of course that's not going to be healthy.

The side dishes including Kimchi are very healthy for sure.
Korea wins hands down in that measure.
How many of us gorge ourselves on all those though.. Confused

So yeah- On the whole, I think Korean food is healthy.
Add in the right mix of easily available Korean ingredients and you can have a healthy as dishes that you would find in most places..

It was good for me, I lost 30 lbs the first year I lived there, eating rice everyday.
