Are there any runners out there who can tell me where in Seoul I can find a decent pair of minimalist running shoes? After running in traditional running shoes for years I'd like to try something new. I'm especially interested in Vibrams, but have so far been unable to locate a shoe store that carries them. Thanks in advance for any info. |

This was last year I believe, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think I was wandering around Times Square and came across a place that had them. I think they were somewhere near where they sell the puppies. |

I think most of the Nike stores also have the free runs. |
I e-mailed the distributor for Vibrams in Korea, but they told me that they themselves could not provide me with info regarding where to buy them - they only sell Vibrams parts for repair.
Thanks for the info about Nike free runs. Several online stores also have pretty good deals on Vibrams, might have to give them a go. |

Our local sporting goods store just had a big sale on Nike Frees - 69/pair if you buy 2. I got black w/yellow soles and blue/white soles. Best shoe I've ever had besides my other vibrams sneakers. |

Do yourself a favor and check out the Merrell Road Glove. It has the Vibrams' sole without making you look like...yeah...
But, if for whatever reason you are fixed on you must have/want Five Fingers, I hear a sporting chain called "INTERSPORT" in Korea sells them.
Or, I found this place that sells them and can ship them internationally (I believe Vibrams is pretty strict about this): http://crossroadsonline.com/shipping-info.html |

If you want the benefits of a minimal running shoe without the five finger look, check the New Balance Minimus line. Vibram makes the soles for them (which is what Vibram is known for), and they're super comfortable and extremely resilient.
I've got a couple of Five Fingers, and a pair of Minimus (Minimi?) and save the Five Fingers for trails these days.

Thanks for all the helpful responses. Went shopping in Itaewon and tried out the Nike Free Run, which felt pretty good, though it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, no store carried the NB Minimus in my size, 290mm, so I'll be checking out those links with an eye on purchasing a pair online.
If anyone in Wonju wants to do some trail running, pm me. |
