I messaged Sami, per your recommendations, and should hopefully get a better idea of what insurance will cost. All things considered, it's looking like roughly 1,000,000W for insurance + 500,000W for taxes. That's 1.5 million per year, or 125,000 per month. Divided by the two of us, it will cost each of us just over $60/month. I think of it as $15 per week.

I've gone back and forth about whether this is worth it or not. Right now, I'm thinking it is. Reasons being, $15 is two drinks at a bar, my loans wouldn't get paid off that much faster if I didn't have a car, and I only live once. I'm spending money anyway, so why not at least have something to show for it. Tomorrow I might feel exactly the opposite, but that's where I'm at right now. I know I could save money with an economy car, but that would kind of defeat the purpose for me. I was originally looking at Kia Bongo trucks with the idea that I'd help foreigners (and myself) move. I can still do that with a Korondo. However, I can also bring two friends along and still have space for camping gear, overnight packs, or whatever. Sure, I could accomplish this with a mid-size sedan too, but I'm sick of driving sedans. That's all I ever drove at home, so it doesn't sound very appealing in the land of mid-sized sedans known as Korea.

Anyway, thanks for all of your input. I still have to wait at least a month to receive my apostilled drivers license, so none of this is going to happen tomorrow.
