This is only a perception:

I think recent college grades are overly inflated to make school look good and graduation percentage high. I think the grades from previous century are less so. Older workers are disadvantaging themselves by double standarding themselves when they think their grades are same standard as the more recent.

Am I mistaken with this notion?

I hear this all the time about universities in Canada but I just don't see it. If anything, I see the opposite, the economy's been bad driving more people to attend university and be more competitive, and there are way more international students now that have also raised the bar. The price of tuition has far outpaced inflation, and there's a lot more pressure on kids entering university to succeed or else than there was in previous generations. Maybe the biggest difference is that a lot more kids go from high school to university, because there just isn't the jobs out there like there used to be for people with a high school education.

In any case, who' s been out of school for more than 5 years and cares about their grades?
