|
|
I am finishing up in a few weeks and will be off my E-2 Visa and the national health insurance from my employer.
I will be staying in Korea for 3 months on a tourist visa (then a hop over to Japan) and back to Korea for another 3 months, one more Japan hop, then another 3 months.
Staying in Korea because I can live free with my gf and my internship for my new job doesn't start until January 2014 in the US.
Should I buy some sort of medical insurance? Anyone have any tips/suggestions what to buy or if I need to get some? I've never in my life ever had to go to the hospital, except for physicals for sports/teaching.
Thanks |

Good question, I'm also interested in this because I'm coming on a six month tourist visa again. Last time I was hospitalized without insurance and it was worrying. |

Korean companies offer travel insurance for inbound passengers for a period of one month only. So i guess you can only get insurance for a month. |

I noticed a couple of weeks ago on the website of a major hospital in Seoul where they accept travel health insurance from two companies. I think one was Allianz and the other had SOS in its name. I don't remember the hospital or the details, but I think you can get such insurance for six months and probably even a year. |

Get it from your home country. You can get a year quite easily for a few hundred dollars. |
