I'm a female that will be teaching at a kindergarten hagwon and I've been told the dress code is business casual. Would black non-denim pants and shirts topped with cardigans be considered business casual? I'm thinking skirts and dresses won't be such a good idea around younger kids. It's just throwing me off a bit that the pictures on the school's website have half the teachers wearing jeans with a shirt and then the other half wearing dress pants and button-downs. |

Not business casual, but casual casual would suffice. Yes, jeans and shirt or even nice t-shirt would suffice. |

No, a t-shirt would not suffice. Wear business casual and that does not include t-shirts. Foreigners dress like slobs over here and it's embarrassing. Take pride in yourself! |

The better you dress the better you will be treated in South korea. The western teachers who dress like bums usually get treated like bums.
but i understand what you are asking and that is what are practical clothes to wear when with children. Use commons sense.
If you dress professionally that how you will be treated. |

Cardigans are fine. For a kindy job, you'll likely be able to wear jeans, but don't wear sloppy jeans. A nice pair of tailored jeans with a cardigan/knit shirt should suffice. If you do wear dresses, wear shorts underneath unless you're wearing pencil skirts (called Y-line skirts here) but you probably wouldn't want to wear those if running around after kids. |
