I'm a female that will be teaching at a kindergarten hagwon and I've been told the dress code is business casual. Would black non-denim pants and shirts topped with cardigans be considered business casual? I'm thinking skirts and dresses won't be such a good idea around younger kids. It's just throwing me off a bit that the pictures on the school's website have half the teachers wearing jeans with a shirt and then the other half wearing dress pants and button-downs.

Not business casual, but casual casual would suffice. Yes, jeans and shirt or even nice t-shirt would suffice.

No, a t-shirt would not suffice. Wear business casual and that does not include t-shirts. Foreigners dress like slobs over here and it's embarrassing. Take pride in yourself!

The better you dress the better you will be treated in South korea. The western teachers who dress like bums usually get treated like bums.

but i understand what you are asking and that is what are practical clothes to wear when with children. Use commons sense.

If you dress professionally that how you will be treated.

Cardigans are fine. For a kindy job, you'll likely be able to wear jeans, but don't wear sloppy jeans. A nice pair of tailored jeans with a cardigan/knit shirt should suffice. If you do wear dresses, wear shorts underneath unless you're wearing pencil skirts (called Y-line skirts here) but you probably wouldn't want to wear those if running around after kids.
