A world champion paralympian is necesarily a complicted and intense type of person.

Beneath the camera-friendly facade is an arrogant and unpredictable guy obviously.

It's certainly not looking good for him. Rumors are that anabolic steroids were found at his home. If this turns out to be true, he's done, regardless of whether he's found guilty or not.

And, apparently cops believe an argument could have started over a message she received from a rugby player she was friends with.

She was known to be active socially . I think this was male jealousy, they are going to try to use the steroids as a defense that he was not in his right mind and mentally clouded by their use.
I just think this guy went crazy when he found out that she had other guy friends. Just brutal stuff.
the guy is an ego maniac and couldnt take the fact that she had other interests.

Pistorius is looking more like Chris Benoit every day.

Quote:
Roid Rage, you bet, it exists and anyone who is experienced with anabolic steroids and tells you differently is either lying or misinformed.

Generally this is observed as random outburst of anger far beyond what is deemed appropriate to a particular situation. http://www.steroid.com/Roid-Rage.php

Yep. Massive ego combined with physical disability that would otherwise render him unattractive to women.

Such cherry picking of quotes - notice how the study cited on your link says there is no Roid Rage?

Tell ya what, I'll stack my years of steroid use against your experience - how's that? You game for deeply discussing this issue?

Also of note - Chris Benoit

Quote:
Benoit was found to have Xanax, hydrocodone, and an elevated level of testosterone, caused by a synthetic form of the hormone, in his system. The chief medical examiner attributed the testosterone level to Benoit possibly being treated for a deficiency caused by previous steroid abuse or testicular insufficiency. There was no indication that anything in Benoit's body contributed to his violent behavior that led to the murder–suicide, concluding that there was no "roid-rage" involved.

Quote:
After the double-murder suicide, former wrestler Christopher Nowinski contacted Michael Benoit, father of Chris Benoit, suggesting that years of trauma to his son's brain may have led to his actions. Tests were conducted on Benoit's brain by Julian Bailes, the head of neurosurgery at West Virginia University, and results showed that "Benoit's brain was so severely damaged it resembled the brain of an 85-year-old Alzheimer's patient."[111] He was reported to have had an advanced form of dementia, similar to the brains of four retired NFL players who had suffered multiple concussions, sank into depression, and harmed themselves or others. Bailes and his colleagues concluded that repeated concussions can lead to dementia, which can contribute to severe behavioral problems.[112] Benoit's father suggests that brain damage may have been the leading cause of the crime

I've known hundreds of steroid users in my life. The only ones that acted like violent asses on steroids, were the same ones that acted that way off of steroids.

Oscar Pistorius has said he won't be entering any further races.

I think he has to worry more about different races entering him, once he's in prison!

Studies on AAS (steroid) users have ethical limitations because they are both illegal and harmful for health and the culture is underground.

There are studies that find a low amount of associated psychiatric problems but there are a significant enough number that show steroid users exhibit abnormal mood and personality disorders. One part of these disorders is 'roid rage' and others are depression and body image issues.

If you ignored this wealth of research on what is commonly referred to as 'roid rage' you would be in the same leagues are people who still believe in 9/11 conspiracies, climate change and that Barack Obama is some kind of Manchurian Candidate or something. Simply internet searches on reputable sites will show what the mainstream opinion is on 'roid rage' or depression.

Alcohol and steroids were found in his house. Depression. Rage. Anger. Hot blooded murder. Not unplausible

Bull - link to those studies.

Link to the studies of the "harm" steroids do. As well, you do know that steroids are not illegal in all countries, right? That the laws around them vary quite a bit.

Steroids have a massively bad rep in the US, but are used everywhere for a variety of purposes.

Where are these studies that show AAS CAUSE abnormal mood and personality disorders.

Where? I'd love to see some actual proof. Where is the actual PROOF of 'Roid Rage?

I always find it funny to see people chime in on a subject they know little to nothing about. If you want to limit your knowledge to what the MSM tells you about the subject, then so be it. But your ignorance and inexperience on the subject is shining through.

Roid Rage is very much akin to Reefer madness or Fan Death

Yes indeed Corea. There is alot of research from respected International Western Universities linking steroids to aggression and hypomania. As I stated there are also studies that do not show any link. But the presence of both would cause most people with a university education to consider the matter open for discussion.

Therefore the presence of testosterone in his house points to a possible factor in the homicide. Considering the weight of research there is to consider.

I notice how you neglected to link to any of those studies.

I'd be VERY interested to see a controlled study with 100+ males, who were psychologically tested before, during, and after - and of course, have it a double blind placebo test.

I HAVE seen aggression in guys that were using steroids. The problem is, they were also aggressive before and after their cycles. I've also seen guys flip out... but again, that was a before, during, and after thing.

I've yet to see a study that shows steroids CAUSED those things.

Were steroids in his house? The defense team says no.

Amid speculation by outsiders to the case that steroids or other drugs could have somehow played a role in the shooting, Botha testified that investigators found two boxes of testosterone and needles at Pistorius' home.
Under questioning by Roux, however, Botha said he hadn't read the full name of the substance -- which Roux said was an herbal remedy called testoconpasupium coenzyme -- when investigators took the materials into evidence. A quick Internet search on the name of the substance yielded no results.

That's no steroid I've ever heard of.

Again, I liken this to fan death. Sure, it's poooossssiiibbllleee that it's a factor, but it's so very over hyped.

Showing little knowledge of scientific method. It is possible to establish a link between steroid use without the double blind placebo studies you mention. There have been many types of studies done, however there have been studies INCLUDING placebo type studies that show increases in aggression for those using steroids which were not controlled by any other factors environmental or pre-existing in the individual.

It is now that you need to reveal the other conspiracy theories you hold so people can take your opinions for what they are worth.

Global warming - hoax right?
Obama - Worst President ever right? Stole the election right? Wants to turn USA into communist state right? Wants to take away your guns right?

Which of the above histerical right wing positions do you also hold so we can quickly dismiss you as a far right conservative who doesn't bother with facts unless they support his position?

Stop with the distractions... no one is talking about 9/11, Obama, or whatever.

I'm asking for actual studies where they've tested men before, during, and after, and found that Steroids cause Roid Rage.

Where are those studies? You've replied a number of times now, yet not posted one up.

Heck, post up some stats about higher suicide rates amongst steroid users than the general public.

Again, I used AAS for years and never experienced this supposed loss of control - nor had anyone I knew.

I'm guessing you've never used them, and know nothing more about them but what people have told you.
