This crisis is in its last gasps. How do I know? The Western media has finally begun stating what South Koreans and long term residents already know, which is that North Korean soliders are going to be too busy farming in May and June to wage war.

That New York Times article is not that inconsistent with the approach John Kerry seems to be taking with the Chinese - trying to impress upon them that although the U.S. would prefer a diplomatic solution, if North Korea's Kim goes ahead with a medium-range missile test "he'd be making a huge mistake"... http://news.yahoo.com/kerry-meet-chinas-top-leaders-discuss-north-korea-035019792.html
The difference is that Kerry and the U.S. still seem to think that China can actually stop NK from launching their missile and that a real settlement can be reached, whereas the Times article thinks a preemptive strike is necessary now. |

There have been reports that Kim is losing control of the military. I think he stays as the figurehead but with little power. The Chinese were very very upset with the latest antics and I dont think they were lying. So it looks like nothing is going to happen ,except a subtle shift in power. Of course he could have an "accident". |

Hopefully, that will happen... I should have posted this article from a couple days ago based on an interview with an - evidently reformed - ex Nork spy who in 1987 planted a time-bomb, got caught, took a cyanide pill, survived, got pardoned, married her security guard, wrote a book, and now lives in Seoul, "still fearful that North Korean assassins could strike her at any time"...http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/10/kim-hyun-hee-north-korea-spy-kim-jong-un-struggling-control-military_n_3050816.html?utm_hp_ref=world |
