My husband and I are hoping to return to Korea this fall (been home almost 2 years) on another EPIK contract (just for him this time) and I'm hoping to get pregnant within the next year.

My question is: Does anyone know if the National Health Insurance (which I understand I'd be eligible to get as a dependent of my husband on an F-3 visa) has a waiting period before maternity coverage kicks in? In America, most new policies have a period of about 6 months to a year where care for conditions like pregnancy is not covered.

If you reply, could you also give info about the total cost of your childbirth experience (with or without insurance)?

Thanks so much for your help!

The joys of national health coverage (unlike the legalized piracy system in place in the US) = no waiting period after you are enrolled and no exclusions or denials for "pre-existing" conditions.
