It looks like I'm getting my novel published (back in New York). The publisher and I are trying to figure out if it's marketable here in Korea (I've lived here for five years and all my friends here will buy it... ha ha... but I'm not sure anyone else will).

Anyway I've noticed a significant lack of E-books here, but maybe they use their phones or something. Has the Kindle/E-book wave hit Korea yet, and for that matter, does anyone know about China/Japan? It seems like these countries would be way into it because they are so into new technology, but I'm not so sure...

I've never seen anyone using one. Other than a few foreigners on the train.

i think i had this debate once. i very rarely see the locals with a ebook, maybe once. Im nosy and I look around to see what ppl r doing on phones, and as most ppl here can see, its Kakao, games, facebook (wheres cyworld), and very rarely, naver search or news.Ive heard they use them at home, but thats bunk. If they cant put their phones down in public, in private im sure its the same.

Korea does have one of the lowest post-education reading stats in the world, and when you take the personal curioisty/interest in self developement out of the human experience, that means reading is not a priority.

bookstores are in trouble, i keep reading.

Whenever I see Koreans reading they're reading actual books.
